JHI - James Hutton Institute, UK

The James Hutton Institute is a world-renowned entity that is leader in research and engagement, and delivers evidence-based solutions to the global challenges that land and natural resources face. It operates from Aberdeen and Dundee, and employs more than 600 scientists and support staff, making it one of the biggest research centres in the UK. The James Hutton Institute has long-standing expertise in stakeholder engagement, participatory research, valuation and evaluation of policy mechanisms. Given its expertise in crop modelling for water management, nutrient management and climate change, in field-based research on the effects of N and P stresses and its molecular work on roots and crops, JHI covers several areas of SolACE, from modelling to field and lab work.

Role in the project

The James Hutton Institute will be involved in work packages 1, 2, 4, 6, and 7. Dr D. Cammarano will be the leader of work package 1. Prof. P. White and Dr. T.S. George will be involved in work package 2 and 4 providing their expertise on potato physiology and P stresses, respectively. Dr. G. Bryan will provide potato genetic material to be tested.
